Is it possible to change default photo app so folders are available in Facebook?

Coming from an iPhone background, I am accustomed 2 clicking on the photo icon in Facebook and my default photo app letting me choose a photo from any of my folders. With the Android, all that comes up is the camera feed and I have to go through many,many photos to find the one I want. I know a workaround is to start in photos and post to Facebook but that is very inconvenient. Hasn't Android come up with a way to accomplish this? Would changing to another photo app make a difference? So...
