WAZE On Android Auto

Hello,
New to the Forums.Just wondering if anyone knows how this will work.When WAZE is added to the app list for Android Auto will I need an update to my Cars Audio system,I have a 2016 Honda Civic and the stock system has Android Auto and Apple Carplay.I use Android Auto of course.So how does this work?Is this a function of Android Auto on my phone and the OS or will I need my system updated?Thanks for any help.
