Hyperlapse Mode?

I really like the "Hyperlapse" mode of the Note 7. I know it was apparently on the S7 but never noticed it. Can someone explain the different modes of Hyperlapse such as the time settings? Auto, 4, 8, 16 32x ?

For example, if i wanted to record a sunset and i wanted to start recording about 2 hours prior would the phone keep recording that long assuming i had enough battery or is there a limit to Hyperlapse?

I haven't found much info on this so i'm hoping someone can shed some light....
