Samsung Note 3 (N9005) will not let me update software

Hi,

I have recently been given a note 3 as a gift and when i received the phone all apps etc were working perfectly fine. I did a factory reset to wipe the phone as it was being used by the person who gave it to me.

Google Play Services stopped working so I removed the upgrades and now it works but none the apps will work unless i re-update, but google play services says 'your device isn't compatible with this version'

I believe i need to update the phones software so it will be...
