Is my game too difficult or are people just bad at playing games?

Hi guys, so I have made a game and am about to promote it. However I have tested my game with some people and a few find it too difficult to play, even the first levels. I am wondering whether I should make it easier from the beginning or let it be a challenge. My game is a space shooter and people who love this type of games usually like them to be challenging. But maybe I am wrong!
