New to Android Rooting

I have a Nextbook Ares 8 tablet running Android Lollipop 5.1. I bought this tablet to learn now to develop applications for operating systems other than Windows.

First thing I want to do is root the tablet. I searched the internet for "Step by step" instructions on how to do this, but they don't show all the details I need to get the job done.
