Cheap (<$300) phones that work on Verizon? (Jun '16)

AA did a great piece on best cheap smartphones recently, unfortunately none of them work on verizon. Is this just a conspiracy? There must be some quality alternative phones compatible with this network, or a workaround.. I want the alcatel idol 3 but won't work on verizon..
I live in US, and am under contract with verizon. My iPhone won't charge anymore so I want to move back to android (finally!)
