Does android phone need antivirus?? and how about that 64 bit android phones will be protected

Hello guys...i just heard about android phones doesnt need antivirus, i just uninstalled it because my phone had a low specs, only 1 gb ram and quad core snapdragon 400

So does it can be protected without antivirus??

And my friend also told me about 64 bit procesor in windows can protect it from virus, does it the same in android??
I am planning to buy xperia z3 compact , but i see it is 32 bit android...
I checked zenfone 2, lenovo p90 that have 64 bit....what should i buy now 32 bit or...
