Phone restored to factory settings by itself while charging!? Can I retrieve my data?

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I powered off my Moto G3 and plugged it in to charge. After a few minutes I heard a short vibration, which normally means that the phone powered on by itself and is booting. I then checked the screen; I had to put in the PIN for my SIM card, but afterwards there was no pattern I had to draw in order to unlock the phone (I had one set up before!). After unlocking the screen I can see a blue screen with "Welcome" at the top, a choice of language and a yellow arrow...

Looking for a new or used smartphone. Reliable, able block various application permissions

My current Android is dead and I would like to start researching into a new phone. To help speed up this process I'm hoping to get some feedback from people in the know.

I do not need to latest phone with all the latest tech and such. Just a good solid performer that will do its job without causing headaches. I've had good experience with my Samsung Android and would be interest in going in that direction, although that not necessarily concrete.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (3gb ram, 32gb.)

Hi guys, so I'm getting the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with 3gb ram and 3gb storage. I've watched a lot of reviews on Youtube and it seems like a good device for its price. Any thoughts on it? How's battery life, camera, Miui7 and is there any possibility to get CyanogenMod on it? Right now I'm owning a Windows Phone and this will be my first Android phone. Chrome redirect virus/malware

Hi guys for the past couple of months I've been experiencing an extremely annoying occurance with chrome. When I search on chrome and enter certain websites I get a redirect to an add or a message saying I have a virus. I have done the usual things like scan with every app under the sun with no success.

Since update I cant skip/pause song via bluetooth

I really need help as the garage isn't helping at all!

I brought a new car last month and it worked beautifully! I had no problem connecting Spotify to the car via BT, I could skip and pause my songs all the time. [REQUEST] Backup.img from stock moto e xt-1022

Hi,
Few days ago, I was using my phone. Suddenly it got switched off. From that point it's not turning on nor it's charging. IT'S HARD BRICKED.

The fix for this is "eMMC Software Restore" method.
The eMMC storage in motherboard is corrupted. To fix that i need the backup.img file which can be created by a user who is using moto e(xt-1022) which is rooted, bootloader unlocked and running stock rom.

If anyone can help me, I kindly request you to contact me PLEASE.

Looking for a good budget smartphone, please help!

Hi guys, so I'm switching to Android soon after using Windows Phone (8, 8.1 and 10) for over 2 years. I want to try something new right now so I'm looking for a good, budget smartphone. As long as it's not a Samsung.

I've recent read that allot of people have been experiencing problems while using cases with magnetic covers on their mobile devices. In some cases using cases with magnetic covers will cause problems while using the touchscreen or in the case of the Samsung Galaxy Note series will cause problems with the S-Pen. Right now I have a Nexus 5 (2014) which serves my needs well.

but thanks to the wonder of modern built in obsolescence - it's time to start shopping for a replacement.

I am about to replace my Xperia Z3 Compact.
Main reason for replacing it is small screen, terrible camera at low light conditions, low speaker volume...

best app for IRC direct messenger?

I use Pidgin on desktop and used to use Trillian for android to connect to AIM to talk to my family.

Now AIM is shut down and IRC was the only protocol we could get working with Pidgin. Unfortunately Trillian doesn't support IRC accounts.

What is the best app to use if I just want to send direct, instant messages via the IRC freenode network?

I installed a few but they were all full-on IRC clients - I need a messenger, not an IRC client. And sadly Pidgin has no mobile app.

Buy Unlocked or Verizon Version

I am thinking of buying the unlocked GS9 Plus from Samsung and using it on Verizon instead of buying the Verizon version of the phone. I have never owned an unlocked phone before.

What's the advantages/disadvantages of buying the unlocked version?

Years ago I read of an app that I may or may not remember correctly.

case1- Callers in your contacts or whitelist would ring and if no-answer go to voice mail.
case2- Other callers would not ring but rather go to voice mail, and (whether or not they left a message) if they called again within a minute, would become case1 for that call.

Case1 and case2 greeting messages should be different, and to be fancy case1 and case2 voice mails could be different pools.

This would block robocalls....

Close apps causing performance issues?

I am receiving this message since this morning after each 8 to 10 minutes;

com.andriod.calllogbackup is causing performance issues that could drain your battery or cause other apps to run slowly.

To send an error reports to Samsung, go to CONTACT US> Error reports.

I have submitted the error reports to Samsung but the issue is remain the same.

Unable to restore SMS

Hi all, hope someone can help I have tried many things. I had to factory reset my HTC One M8 & so prior to this I backed up everything. My SMS was backed up to DropBox using the Easy Backup & Restore app which had always been fine. When I tried to restore everything returned except my SMS - though the app suggested the restore had been successful the SMS are not in my message box.

I have extracted the .csv file from dropbox & put in various places after downloading several different SMS...

How to stop data usage by removed apps.

I bought Samsung S*+ 7 month ago. Right after I bought it, some apps removed. And up to now no problem. My regular data usage used to be less than 2GB/month by last month. This month, I received a notice from Verizon that my data usage to be over my limit. Then, I checked data usage record to find out that [removed apps used data 3.13GB] during I month. I asked Verizon about it, but they did not know how it happened. Anyone give me any advise to settle the problem?

YouTube doesn't auto hide on screen buttons

When I use YouTube in my Google Pixel phone it doesn't matter if I'm using it in portrait or full screen landscape mode, the on screen buttons (IE < = > etc) never go away. They sit there huge and prominent and block the screen. They never auto hide and it's incredibly annoying and bothersome. SD card not being detected by any device anymore

Today I tried sending someone an image on WhatsApp and every time I clicked the send button it said "Could not load photo" so I rebooted my phone.
After I did, a notification saying "Damaged SD card please reformat" appeared. I didn't want to lose any data so I turned off my phone, took out the SD card and put in my PC so I could backup and format.
But when I tried to, my PC didn't detect the SD card.
When I put it back in my phone, the "Damaged SD card" notification didn't show up again...

ALL apps and websites with video show wrong screen size.

Hi guys, would really appreciate your help on this one. 4G won't work

LG PHone (VS870 4G, LG Lucid 2) on Verizon network (though paid through PagePlusCellular) all of a sudden won't connect to 4G (or any) network. Hi!

I'm trying to flash the dualbootutilities zip (aroma installer) that came with DualBootPatcher, available for the samsung Galaxy Tab 3 lite (T113/T116 7.0 600x1024) in order to switch my roms within recovery.

On the T113/T116, the recovery is displayed in landscape mode, same goes for the aroma installer.

Unfortunately, the touch input is set to portrait mode in aroma installer.. which causes the buttons to malfunction.

Upgrade time. No sure what to do

So my contract is up for upgrade. Until recently I was going to keep running my s7 on a sim old to save myself so money but I've now cracked the screen, the battery life has taken a dive (not a bad app or something battery usage monitor is normal) and finally I can't resit new and shiny.

I got woken up by a few messages in a FB messenger group chat this morning. I'm not sure why I got the notifiation as my phone was set to do not disturb.

I got the usual notification 'pop' sound and the vibrate which both woke me up. My Do not Disturb was turned on, set to Priority Only until my alarm was due to go off (approx. 45 mins later). Huawei Mate 10 Slowing Down

I have just received a new Huawei Mate 10 from work, I set it up using my previous Google Account details and install all the usual apps onto it. It ran like a dream, it was so fast. Scared to buy another LG after G4 bootloop experience

My LG G4's been stuck on a bootloop for a few weeks and I have no hope for it at this point. The G6 and V30 both look amazing and I'm thinking about getting one of them soon. I recently made the switch from iPhone to Samsung galaxy and was really impressed with how easy it was to transfer all my files over, particularly my music.

However, i have an Apple Music account and all my music files have gone into Google Play and I can't seem to get them into Apple Music.

It appears that the interface limits the number of characters that are allowed in the note section of a Google Contacts. Portions of my notes were wiped off my Google contact after I had made phone calls and texts with this person.
