unwanted images and the hassle of android

my photo gallery started creating folders and images all on its own, first i got facebook stickers, 1 image in a folder about 100 folders, it was perplexing as my phone had never done this before and i had it for over 2 years (nexus 6p)

then i started getting other images and folders, i tried to look this up, search for why and how to stop this happening and get rid of them as when i deleted them they came back, which is infuriating, also back up was on and i didn't want to back up...
