What is com.google.android.gms.setup?

Today I noticed in Settings>Apps the following entry which was not there before:

com.google.android.gms.setup

Does anyone know what this is, and why it has suddenly appeared? I don't remember installing any app that could have resulted in this entry.

I did have a Google Play Store update 2 days ago. Could that have caused it?
I'm on Oreo 8.1.0 (Pixel 2 XL)
