Microsoft Office apps consume lots of storage space

This is more like a rant than a question, although if anybody has a solution I would be grateful. I have Galaxy Tab A with 16GB of Internal Storage. After a typical cleanup (remove unnecessary apps, move some to SD card, clear data) I usually end up with 1.7-2GB of free space. Withing a week or two, without much activity on my part, my free storage goes down to 400MB, which triggers several persistent notifications of "dangerously" low space, some of them really pesky, like the one from...
