Google battery eater!!

Hi
Wonder if I could get some advice
On my Note 5 (as with all of my past devices) I've noticed that the most battery drain is coming from Google play services
I know that I need to keep it running in the background as it syncs my email, photos etc
I was wondering is there anything I can do to make it less of a battery hog
Today I checked its usage and it's 22% usage
It's not just my Note it was happening on my s7 edge and others
Any suggestions would be great
