What happens if i factory reset a rooted phone?

Hello everybody,i am new here and i approached an issue on my Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos. After a few days every app keeps on crashing on me,even when I am not using it,as well as freezing constantly. I have rooted it about a year ago,didn't flash any custom ROM ,and backed everything up with Samsung Kies on my laptop. I really want to factory reset it because it already got annoying but I am am too afraid that I will get into a boot loop.Should I do it,and if yes,how?
