Touch screen responsiveness problems, issues

Hi, for about a week, my touch screen was very unresponsive. I had to push my finger down hard or repeatedly. Typing was a major hassle as I had to push each key very carefully before going on to the next. Very slow. Also, when scrolling, the page wouldn't start moving until I'd gone about a centimeter down.

At first, I thought it was my fingers being dry and cold in winter. But I had no trouble using my wife's iPhone 5.
