Sending/Receiving SMS from Third-Party Desktop Apps

Hello, I like to use third-party desktop applications (Windows 10) for sending and receiving SMS messages (easier to type!). However, it seems that a small percentage of my text messages are never sent, and a small percentage from others are never received. This has been the case with at least two third-party apps I've tried. It makes me wonder whether the problem is on Verizon's side, or with my Android's data or wi-fi connection, or something else.
