Solve the Contacts book conundrum

I finally got rid of my iOS. Got this HTC10 and I'm loving it. Android is for adults of all ages

Anyway, what with Cloud storage everywhere and many moves of contacts from one service to another, I've come down to all my contacts on the HTC10. Which is fine as long as my phone remains in the known universe.

THE QUESTION: What are Android users doing for contact backup in the event the phone walks? Verizon has a backup service I haven't used. Anybody here use it? Reliable?
