Waterproof vs phone's design

Hello. I would like to buy ZTE Axon 7, however I am pretty scared of... rain, because of opened, beautiful stereo speakers. Is rain a danger for ZTE Axon 7? There is an option to buy S7 Edge, but I don't want to resign from ZTE Axon only because of waterproof ability. I am not going to swim with my phone, however I want it to be futureproof and durable. What do U think about it?
