Moto z bt outgoing calls not going through car speakers

Hi guys
I have a new moto z2... And we just had a Kenwood DPX502BT radio installed in our van.
By all appearances, the phone and radio are pairing and on incoming calls, both ends of conversation come through car speakers.
But if I go to call using the radio ( pushing voice button on radio ), and say " call Rex", voice comes over speakers saying "call Rex" and I can hear the number being dialed.
But neither call voice comes through the car speakers.... Only through the phone...
