Apps and links closing by themselves

Can anyone help? My phone in the past couple of days has started closing apps by themselves. This is happening with all my apps and is very fustrating...for instance I go to read something on my news app, 10 seconds later it closes and goes to the Home page. Same with Facebook, I can use FB and then click on a link, follow that link to chrome and within seconds closes. Apart from making calls its rendering itself pretty useless without being able to use any apps as they close.
