SD card Resets phone

Does anybody know a good recovery software for Android?

I installed a new SD card into my sister's phone, and it asked to format it, so it would work. So I did.

The phone rebooted and factory reset.
What??? How???

can someone please help?

P.S.
The phone mounts internal storage as sdcard1 and external as sdcard0?
