Android 7.0 Brightness Glitch?

Good evening everyone! This is my first post onto the forums and I'm glad I found such a wealth of information.

My issue begins about an hour ago. I clicked the power button on my Samsung Galaxy J3 Mission and it was at blinding full brightness even though I barely had the slider set to have any light whatsoever.

The slider did nothing no matter what I did and I had to turn off and then turn the screen on again to regain control.
