samsung gear vs android 2.0

looking at my first smartwatch, just wondering what you guys think of the platforms. I'm running a pixel XL so also wondering if i lose any functionality not pairing the samsung devices together
what i want from my watch:
HR/fitness monitoring
standalone GPS would be nice
local music storage, i use spotify, i know samsung supports local spotify, i dont think android 2.0 does?
basic phone notifications, the new android notification system looks nice, can anyone compare impressions of the two...
