Samsung Galaxy S3 hotspot only works while 3G

If I have it set to auto it goes to 4G and my other phones and devices connect but have no internet connection. I do pay for hotspot and I'm not over my limit. My other phones on the same Sprint plan share the 4G hotspot internet fine. The S3 was my intended hub device for the rest and 3g isn't fast enough. I've tried soft and hard reset. Phone is stock running 4.4 and works fine otherwise. Thanks in advance
