Galaxy Note 4 update changed stuff

I have owned several Android based phones, my last two being a Note 2 for several years, and now a Note 4 for about 2 1/2 years. I applied the latest Samsung software update on 8/8/2017 and basically killed my phone, so Verizon replaced it at no charge. The issue I'm having is this, and maybe SOMEONE at Android will take note as well.
