How do I block spam emails on my Pixel 2 XL

I use a pop3 email account on my Pixel 2 XL. This is with Virginmedia.

I set spam emails as spam on my email account through the Virginmedia web site and although they are no longer received they still come through to the phone.

I also use Outlook through MS Office(not Outlook email app) on my pc, again set to pop3. To stop spam emails here I use Spamfighter Pro which does a great job.
