Launching Google Assistant Without Navigation Buttons

On my Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus (global ROM), instead of the three on-screen software navigation buttons, I use the gesture feature and I love it. The problem, however, is that this means I'm left without a physical way of activating Google Assistant. Does anyone know a way around this? I can, of course, activate it by saying "Hey, Google" or "Ok, Google," but I can't always speak out loud.
