Does an Android wear watch keep your phone unlocked?

Hi,
I'm looking to get a smart watch (LG Watch Sport) and currently have a Samsung S7 Edge. With the watch paired to the phone, it is possible to not have to pass fingerprint authenitacation when the watch is in distance of the watch. The only reason I ask is my fingers dry out and when at work and it then can take several attempts to unlock my phone because my fingers are dry and cracked. It's only a small big bear of mine, but it would make the world of difference!
