Unlocked AT&T phone on T-Mobile Network

I've have a phone that was unlocked. It was originally and AT&T phone but I'm using it T-Mobile. The Phone is a Galaxy 7S and with some help from T-Mobile I was able to get the phone to work correctly. I thought about getting the T-Mobile Firmware for the phone, but I don't want to brick the phone.

So with the recent new about 8.1 coming out in the near future, will I get this update from T-Mobile or will I not get it at all since I unlocked it?

Should I go to Sammobile to get the update?
