battery saving

hi
i'm sure most of you will know this but just in case...i was experiencing quite horrible battery drain even overnight when my s6 edge plus was "idle"
i was stumped as i turned off wi-fi and phone (cell) data as i wasn't using them whilst asleep but it was still draining about 20 -30% which i think is ridiculous i did some research and a lot of forums were talking about "wakelock"?? but to solve thst it seemed you had to reboot download some app then root ....i really didn't want to go...
