Previously owned Nexus 6

Hey, I'm kinda new here. I just bought a previously owned Nexus 6 but when I try to set up the phone, I keep getting asked to sign in with a previously synced account. Is there any workaround for this? I've contacted the seller and am awaiting their response, but I was wondering if there is anything I can do to bypass this. Thanks!
