Samsung gear s3

Hey, I recently purchased a Samsung gear s3 after reading so many reviews. I wanted a smart watch that looked good, recorded my runs without taking my phone and sync to Strava easily. Really disappointed that the reviews failed to mention that you have to start your run using the s health app on your phone, which renders the watch useless if I want to sync. Samsung support were useless and even said it does work from the watch which it doesn't, Strava support say they have no plans for...
