Root Scan help for used phone

I bought a used note 5. I would like to perform the deepest scan possible first from my device (then later from a computer).

I'm assuming I can just root my phone then download an app to scan it. What apps have the best or sufficient detection.

Any other suggestions? most sites and apps deal with D/L or message threats not ones that come from a previous user.
