My kindle was suddenly showing a zero battery charge and I followed your posted clues.
Long story short, I had downloaded "messenger" on my kindle/ facebook account yesterday
Powered down by holding the button, restarted, still zero charge
REMOVED FACEBOOK MESSENGER APP. / PROBLEM SOLVED FULL Charge appeared
Beware the facebook messenger app. on a kindle fire
