When will I get Google assistant?

Around 2 weeks ago, Google announced that Google assistant was coming to other phones. However, while I feel like my phone should have received it by now, I don't have it. My phone is on Android N, with Google play services 10.2.99. I also live in the US. However, when I hold my home button, I just get Google now on tap. Am I missing something or is my phone just not receiving Google play services?
