What would a smartwatch need to do for you to buy it?

I've recently been thinking about smartwatches in general. Sure, it's a nice convenience to check your watch instead of your phone for a notification, or to take a phone call, but is it worth it? With some watches going from around 100-300$, and with the somewhat limited options for use, so far it doesn't seem to be THAT justified in terms of cost.
