Touchscreen dropout area only in portrait

Hi

I've got a NookHD- today it stopped responding (or responding badly) when typing to the bottom right of the keyboard. I've since discovered a "patch" towards the top right of the screen as well.

Did a factory reset. Still the same.

So to check the problem further I used a draw app. Sure enough in the areas the lines drawn were "patchy" and "weak". But when I turn the screen to landscape I can draw in the dodgy areas perfectly.
