storing twrp backups on my comp.

Hey so I'm currently loving my CyanogenMod moto g and I use twrp to make backups from time to time .Problem is these backups take a lot of space on the phone. Is there any way I can save these onto my desktop? If so how and if so how do I get them onto my phone when I want to restore them. Sorry if this is a stupid question. Thanks for your answers in advance.
