Samsung No Longer Accepting Out of Warranty Repairs

My Galaxy S6 suddenly went into a boot loop yesterday. Unable to turn it off, reboot in any mode. Gorked. Samsung tech at Best Buy store said it was related to a software update Verizon pushed, he's seeing a lot of the same issue with S6s. Said the only remedy was to send it off to Samsung for repair.

My phone is 3 months out of warranty. Samsung told me today that "Due to current circumstances" it is not accepting any phone for out of warranty service. Rep at my Verizon store just...
